TRIP SUMMARY:
Island Peak, or Imja Tse, is a 6,189-meter (20,305 ft) trekking peak in Nepal's Sagarmatha National Park, known for offering a quintessential introduction to Himalayan mountaineering. It's named for its appearance as an "island" amidst a "sea of ice" from Dingboche and is an extension of the Lhotse ridge. The climb involves challenging but fixed-rope sections on a steep headwall and an exposed summit ridge, rewarding climbers with breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, and other major peaks.
