Kyrgyzstan Basic Mountaineering Course (KBMC)

The first-of-its-kind bespoke mountaineering skills course in one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Kyrgyzstan.

 

Our annual course, conducted by experienced mountain guides from the KMGA (Kyrgyzstan Mountain Guide Association), provides a unique opportunity for participants to learn a variety of essential skills, including glacier travel, alpine climbing, rock-climbing, crevasse rescue, crevasse self-rescue, and even cooking mountain meals.

  • Since 1st of December 2017, Kyrgyzstan Mountain Guides Association (KMGA) become a member of IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guides Association)

  • There are now 44 members from 11 countries: Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Ukraine, Iran, France, Germany, Italy and Australia who are part of IFMGA.

  • JTRACE works with selected KMGA mountain guides to co-instruct and create a bespoke and beginner-friendly mountaineering program.

Traditional Rock Climbing and Abseiling

Traditional Rock Climbing and Abseiling

Members will learn how to manage rope, practice basic rock-climbing with traditional natural protection, abseil and set up anchor points. If members have SNCS climbing certifications in Singapore, they would be able to lead the rock climbing portions.

Safe Glacier Travel and Ice Skills

Safe Glacier Travel and Ice Skills

Learning to traverse on ice and rock requires skill and practice. Members will spent about two to three days on ice learning the basics of ice craft, building anchors and how to cross crevasses safely in glaciated environments.

Crevasse Rescue and Self-Rescue

Crevasse Rescue and Self-Rescue

Members will have the opportunities to rescue themselves or self-rescue out from a crevasse using ascending techniques and also have the chance to rescue their friends after arresting their fall.
