TRIP SUMMARY:
Aconcagua, the "Sentinel of Stone," is the highest mountain in the Americas and the highest peak outside of Asia, with a summit of 6,962 meters (22,841 feet). Located in the Principal Cordillera of the Andes in Argentina's Mendoza Province, it is a popular destination for high-altitude expedition mountaineering and serves as a challenging, but achievable, goal on the Seven Summits challenge. The mountain was first climbed by Matthias Zurbriggen in 1897.
